Absorption Systems recognizes the abundant marketplace for cutaneous regenerative devices, and several studies to date have shown Absorption Systems’ unique expertise in developing and delivering vetted models that prove safety and efficacy in this therapeutic space. One such example was the creation of a dermal wound model in support of a combination device, comprising of a traditional autogenous graft with added regenerative capabilities. After a battery of preliminary evaluations in a scarring model, a unique platform was developed in conjunction with the sponsor’s wishes such that the test article could be applied to both full and partial thickness wounds, in an application closely mimicking final use in humans.

Neural

Absorption Systems’ capabilities go beyond dermal applications. As companies further understand the underlying basis of neurodegenerative diseases and develop therapeutics to stymie and eventually reverse their effects, Absorption Systems stands ready to support the development of regenerative neural treatments. As the sites of neurodegenerative disease are particularly sensitive, Absorption Systems has experience not only developing models that explore de novo neural generation, but also proprietary delivery systems that support the delivery of test article to implant site.

Diabetes

Diabetes and insulin management is another therapeutic area that will be transformed in the coming years by the advent of advanced regenerative medicine. Examples of  Absorption Systems’ collaboration on diabetes management include devices that utilize either autologous or endogenous insulin production to placate the effects of insulin resistance. In the case of elution devices such as these, the management of physiologic breakdown or encapsulation and rejection is the priority, and past experience has given Absorption Systems insight into the best models to explore mitigation of such responses, insight that can be leveraged in the development of your test article and delivery system.

Ocular

Expanding on our extensive experience in ocular PK and in vivo permeability, we are proud to offer services in support of targeted regenerative medicine in the same ocular space. Due to the exquisitely sensitive nature of the eye’s structures, management of biodistribution and tumorigenicity of any regenerative therapeutic is of paramount concern. Absorption Systems will be able to assist in determining the most appropriate model, test article or treatment course, and endpoint protocols, and our experienced ocular surgical team and specialized equipment ensure exacting precision in any implantation or supplemental procedure.
